During the training participants will gain an understanding of the continuum of mental health issues that arise during the perinatal period; be able to identify risk and protective factors for pregnant women and new mothers;  have an opportunity to think about the use of storytelling, active listening, observation, and screening in developing positive relationships with families and gathering necessary information; be offered time to consider the use of self-reflection and other reflective practice strategies to enhance work with pregnant women, new mothers, and their families.
